Marguerite Steppe
Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Marguerite Steppe (nee Hill) displayed a love and talent for Art from a very early age. She completed High School at the National School of the Arts where she received Academic Colours for Art. She Matriculated with university exemption, with her Art subjects including Drawing, Design, Jewellery Design and History of Art.
After High School she enrolled at Rhodes University in Grahamstown (Makhanda) to read for a Bachelor of Fine Arts where she was exposed to a range of artistic disciplines and specialised in Graphic Design. During her time at Rhodes she also discovered a passion for Industrial Psychology. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and Industrial Psychology she went on to complete her Honours and Masters in Industrial Psychology as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education.
After graduation, Marguerite moved to Cape Town where she still lives with her husband and son. Throughout her adult life working in the corporate and academic world as well as running her own private practice, she has always continued to explore her creative side in all she does. In 2023, thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, she picked up her pencils (and other tools) and started putting her God-given talent to use again on a more formal level, by starting Marguerite’S Artisanal Hand-Crafts (www.marguerites.co.za). She considers herself a Multi-Media Artist as she has studied and been exposed to a number of different Art forms over her life and constantly explores different materials and techniques.
